Principal’s Report - Sarah Anderson

• We’ve had a fantastic transition back to school, and it’s been wonderful to see students return excited and ready to learn. Teachers did a great job easing everyone back into routines while reinforcing expectations and positive behaviors.

• Students are doing an amazing job earning shout-outs for positive choices like kindness, effort, and safe behavior. They’ve already exceeded our schoolwide goal, and nearly every student has been recognized—something they’re very proud of! A special celebration is planned as a reward for their hard work.

• Midyear academic assessments are underway, helping teachers track student growth and tailor instruction in reading and math. Our fourth graders will also participate in the NAEP national assessment on February 9, and families will receive more information soon.

• Student Council has been busy planning exciting initiatives, including peer-led activities, a possible talent show, and a Valentine’s Day kindness project to ensure every student feels celebrated.

• We’re off to a strong start and are excited for all that’s ahead in the second half of the year!

Current Business

• Lilac Casino update

  • What is it? Over the course of 10 days we will get a portion of what they make each day. Bingo Hall does not count towards this.

  • We got a spot: Jan 1st - Jan 10th!

  • Will meet with Mrs. Anderson to go over things about what we can do with the funds, then go over it with the Staff/PTA.

  • Need to use or make a line - Sustain and replenish.

  • Re-evaluate fundraising when we have new funds

  • Create a form for Ideas for the MSMS community.

    • Ideas need to be for the betterment of all students

• Committee Chairs

  • What does it mean to be the chair or co chair?

    • Responsible for the committee chat

    • Will set up the meetings, create agendas, run meetings for that committee and the report back to the board.

    • Will be the one to report in the meeting.

    • To be in a committee you need to be a paid member.

  • Fundraising Committee Chair -  is not the chair to every fundraiser but the chair to hold meetings to discuss/decide fundraising options.

• Bingo for books

  • Hoping for 30 people and might have met that. 

  • Potential time designated for adults next time we do Bingo for Books.

  • Greg & Randy will put walls on the trailer

Principal’s Report - Sarah Anderson

• Before the break, we wrapped up our first round of Boundless Exploration (BE), and the feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive. It was wonderful to see students trying new things and building new skills. Some of our most popular sessions focused on good sportsmanship and positive self-talk during challenges, which provided great opportunities for reflection and growth. We’re already gearing up for our second round of BE soon, and as always, we welcome volunteers who would like to share their talents or passions with students—your involvement truly helps make this program special!

• We also had an exciting visit from the STEM-mobile from UNH, where students got the opportunity to “grow” hearts and learn about fascinating science concepts. This hands-on experience was a big hit and sparked a lot of curiosity among our learners.

• This week, we’re focusing on bus safety and fire safety, ensuring that our students are prepared and informed to keep themselves and others safe.

• Our Student Council is now up and running and is launching the school store this Friday before the morning meeting! The store will feature a small selection of fun items for students to purchase, with plans to expand in the coming weeks. Funds raised will support community engagement and enrichment opportunities within our school.

• The Student Council’s first major event will be a Veterans Breakfast on Friday, November 14, where students are encouraged to invite a veteran in their life to join them for breakfast. Please remember to RSVP using the link found in the October Tiger Tracks newsletter so we can plan accordingly.

• Thank you for your continued support and partnership—you help make our school community strong and vibrant!

  • Gonic did not communicate the event, and McLelland’s communication was limited.

  • Thinking doing a Maple Family one next year

  • The 2025 event came in under budget.

• City Event (10/10/25)

  • Fun event - Huge turn out.

  • Dillion did music, games, and popcorn.

Current Business

• Childcare for November PTA Meeting

  • Making sure we have accurate staffing for childcare.

• Recreation Fund update: $500 Mrs. Anderson has got that taken care of.

• Staff Funds: Reminder Teachers have $100

• Volunteers (encourage fingerprinting for all interested parents)

  • Please let Mrs. Anderson know if you have any questions or issues with finger printing.

• Outdoor update:

  • Planning to take down the apple tree.

  • Shrubs spring project

  • Most things will happen in the spring

• Little Caesars Update: 

  • $330 Raised (54 kits) so far - Goal 1200

  • Need 46 more for free delivery.

  • Ordering

    • Paper Order by Friday the 17th.

      • Checks payable to MSMS PTA

  • Each student will get their own prize, list is on the maple page.

  • PTA will do something for the top class.

  • The week of November 3rd is when they’ll announce the delivery date.

  • The kids make the art pieces that get mounted and people bid on them.

  • Won’t fall during the April vacation. Typically 1st or 2nd Saturday and April.

  • Last year we walked with just a banner and had a great time.

  • The proposed location is at the Middle School.

  • All students “shop” for their 5 loved ones from donations.

  • At the beginning of December for 3 days they come down by grade.

Principal’s Report - Sarah Anderson

• It has been a truly successful first month of school, and I can’t tell you how wonderful it feels to have our students back in the building. The energy they bring each day is contagious, and we’ve been working hard together to learn our routines and procedures. I’m proud to say that we are really hitting our stride as a community.

• This week, we are launching Boundless Exploration (BE). Students will dive into big, engaging questions, and I encourage you to ask your child what essential question they’re exploring during this BE cycle—it’s a great way to spark conversation and hear their curiosity in action.

• On Thursday, we are looking forward to celebrating summer reading with support from the Rochester Literacy Team and the public library. It’s always inspiring to see how students’ love of reading continues to grow.

• I’m also thrilled to share that we’ve just been approved for a visit from the STEM-Mobile, hosted by the University of New Hampshire, on October 1st. This is an incredible opportunity—STEM educators will lead hands-on biology projects in classrooms and then bring students outside to the STEM-Mobile, which is essentially a laboratory on wheels. We know this will be an engaging and memorable experience for our students.

• Finally, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the PTA for organizing a fantastic Grandparents’ Day. The event was truly special, and it was rewarding to honor our students’ grandparents and grandfriends for all they contribute to our school community.

• Thank you all for your continued partnership and support—it makes all the difference in the experiences we are able to provide for our students.

  • Karlee was a 3rd grader who had cancer and passed away and the garden was in memoriam for her. One of her favorites are butterflies so its made to attract butterflies.

Principal’s Report - Sarah Anderson

• We’ve had a strong start to the school year, practicing expectations in our common areas and reinforcing what it means to be a White Tiger by living the White Tiger Way.

• We’re excited for our first Morning Meeting of the year! Grade 5 will be presenting, and following the meeting, parents are invited to a talk on Building Routines at Home for Academic Success—with tips for effective homework, bedtime, and morning routines.

• We’ll also introduce our Tiger of the Month recognition program, with our first honorees celebrated at the September 5 Morning Meeting.

• Open House will be on September 4, 5–6 PM. Come see the amazing work your students have completed during the first month of school!

• BE will begin September 11, and we’re looking for volunteers to share their knowledge and passions with our students. If you’re interested, please reach out—we’d love to have you!

Treasurer’s Report - Ron Williams

• June 2025

  • Finished with an account balance of $11,494.68

    • YTD Expenses: $11,384.29

    • YTD Deposits: $14,061.00

  • Issued thirteen checks in the month of April for a total of $3,126.17:

    • Did not list all 13 checks individually during meeting.

  • $1,177.14 in outstanding checks

    • These have since cleared.

  • Deposited a total of $1,299.16  in deposits in June:

    • $23.73 - Book Fair

    • $30.02 - United Way of Southern Maine

    • $250 - Cinco’s Fiesta Fundraiser

    • $995.41 - Savers

• July 2025

  • We went from TD Bank to Service Credit Union

• 2025-2026

  • No more bank fees.

  • All our statements are in google drive.

  • Going over the differences on budget this year:

    • Staff Appreciation: Going down to $300 from $500. Only used $354.53 last year.

    • PTA Child Care: Only difference is a $10 increase to account for contributing for child care for the district PTA meeting

    • PTA Supplies: Bumped that up from $100 to $200

    • Holiday Shop: $750 to $400, only brought in about $350 and it’s self funding.

    • Field Trips: Want to approach this year differently. Went from $1,200 to $1,800 allowing $350 per teacher to use however for fieldtrips. Last year went over budget so this year we want to have a better plan in place.

    • Outdoor Movie: Went from $100 to $150

    • Pie Night: Went from $400 to $200

    • T-shirts: Went from “Field day tshirts” for $350 to “t-shirts” for $600. For shirts like White Tiger of The Month & Field day

• Projected Balance: $10,828.71 at $10,511.54 right now.

• Pops on the play ground: Aug 21st ,Thursday, 5:30p-6:30pm

  • Popsicles, meet & greet. Boy & girl scouts are coming and Dillion Guyer to DJ.

Fundraising

• Fundraising committee

• Little Caesars: 

  • Made $1,150 earned last year

  • Estimated time frame: beginning of November potentially later in the evening.

  • Committee is mostly for the night of pickup

• Popcorn: Fridays that are not on our morning meeting.

  • Popcorn pass:  3 tiers.

    • Tier 1: $8 - pays for your student

    • Tier 2: $15 - pays for your student and part of someone else's

    • Tier 3: $25 [Rocky Pass] - pays for your student and those who may not be able to afford it.

Current Business

  • Oct 14th: Teacher workshop, but will still have a meeting.

  • Done teacher shirts & field day shirts.

  • Different parent/grandparents shirts

    • Grandparents day: potentially purchase before to give out on the day

  • More options are coming soon (Michelle & Erica will connect on this)

• Drama Production:

  • Erica talked with Mrs. Lovins - Interested

  • Possibility - In early stages of discussions

• Teachers & Staff

  • Teacher Appreciation committee

  • Erica will be at staff meetings 1x a month to connect and be the liaison to the PTA

  • Teachers get $100 to use per classroom. Just send to the receipts to Ron Williams

    • Currently still updating this.

  • Meeting minutes and agendas will be posted.

    • Will figure out a time frame and reach back out.
